Collagen | Collagen is a protein formed by a chain of amino acids combined together. There are about 27 types in all, 9 of which are classified as essential because they are not produced by the body, but come from the diet.¹ The hydrolyzed form of collagen is the result of protein breakdown, which makes amino acids more bioavailable, thus facilitating absorption by the body.²
