Passiflora incarnata | Originally from Tropical America, Passion fruit requires high temperatures and only adapts well in temperate regions. It is a perennial creeper that blooms in spring and bears fruit in early summer. Its fruits are yellow ovoids and the edible pulp contains rough seeds, which serve to prepare refreshing drinks. In 1867, the studies of an American researcher drew attention to passionflower and showed its keen interest in medicine as sedative and antispasmodic. The plant can be found along hedges and forest margins, in thickets and in open soil. Native of the southeastern United States.¹
